The #1 defence against Hair Loss: Saw Palmetto

It’s been used for quite some time as an effective hair loss treatment, Saw Palmetto is now entering the main stream. The use of saw palmetto for hair loss has been around for a number of years now with encouraging results. And even though more research needs to be done, saw palmetto for hair loss, as it now stands, is a rather viable option for the treatment of male and female pattern baldness.

For many men and women, the onset of male and female pattern baldness can be one of the most frustrating and ego-reducing signs of aging. The condition itself — known as androgenic alopecia has been long known to be caused by the over-production of a hormone referred to as DHT, or Dihydrotestosterone. The male body makes DHT by synthesizing testosterone with an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase. Where's the link between hair loss and DHT? Simple, if there's to much DHT present then chances are the person is experiencing hair loss. DHT, in its own unique way, is the hormone responsible for shutting down the signal between healthy hair follicles and the cells they use to create new hair. Simply put, DHT puts up a roadblock between the building materials (hair cells) and the construction site (the hair follicle). So in short, when there is an over-abundance of DHT on the scalp, hair growth is stunted.

So how does saw palmetto for hair loss work? Simply stated, it acts as an anti-androgen (or anti-hormone) by reducing the levels of created DHT by blocking one of its necessary ingredients, the 5-alpha-reductase. Although how Saw Palmetto does this has yet to be fully understood, the results are clear. By limiting the amount of DHT created, the amount of DHT hair loss is thereby reduced. Stated this way, the science is fairly simple. And since saw palmetto for hair loss has shown to have much promise, the best hair loss products containing Saw Palmetto, such as those Provillus, have steadily achieved great success.

So if you, or someone you know, is beginning to experience (or has already experienced) the effects of DHT hair loss, it would be recommended to do plenty of research — such as in reading  a good Provillus review — and then make up your own mind what route is the best to take. There are a lot of great stories and results showing up from the use of Saw Palmetto for hair loss, so choosing a solution might be easier then expected.
