Male hair loss is often thought to be caused by wearing a hat too much or stress. Then there are always the rumours that if your mothers father was bald watch out you probably will be too. There is one proven cause behind premature thinning hair in men, and surprisingly it’s something that occurs naturally.
DHT is a substance found in all mens bodies. It’s a derivative of our hormone testosterone. DHT is used in some natural processes so we regularily make it, however too much can become a problem.
The Cause of Thinning Hair DHT
What happens is DHT finds it’s way to your scalp and latches itself onto your hair follicles. Not every follicle is affected at once, so it’s possible to reverse these effects if you catch it early enough.DHT slowly shrinks the size of a hair follicle it’s attached to, this also shrinks the size of the hairs that can grow from those follicles as well. What eventually happens is these hair follicles become dormant an can no longer grow new hair.
Stopping DHT
It isn’t all bad news, DHT doesn’t mean you go bald. There are several hair loss supplements topical treatments designed to reduce the amount of DHT that is produced, or block it from attaching to the hair follicles. Treatments taken orally usually reduce the amount of DHT being produced while topical treatments such as shampoos stop DHT from acting on the scalp.
To ensure you get optimum results from any hair loss treatment you must use it consistently. Those men that find they do not get results using hair loss products usually aren’t following the instructions from the manufacturer.
Getting Started
For those of you who might be a little shy about buying a hair loss product there are a lot of products available or order online. In fact one of the best shampoos for hair loss is manufactured by a company called Nisim you can order their product directly and discretely online.
Other manufacturers also sell direct to the consumer and there are also larger skin care and beauty websites such as Sephora and Amazon that also sell hair loss treatments. You must do something about it now. The longer you wait to treat your thinning hair the larger the risk you have of not being able to fully regrow the hair you’ve lost.
